Safely Home book review
Title: Safely Home
Author: Randy Alcorn
Genre: Christian Contemporary Fiction
Plot: Ben Fielding is a successful American Business man. Ben goes on a business trip to China and stays in the home of his old Harvard roommate, Li Quan, who is now a devout Christian and a member of an illegal Home Church.Ben doesn't understand why Li Quan is willing to suffer for his faith instead of following China's regualations.
As Ben starts to see life through Li Quan's life Ben realizes he isn't as successful as he once thought.
My Thoughts:
Wow! Was this book convicting and encouraging. Li Quan and his wife Ming are the most Christ-like and strong fictional characters I have encountered. They are wonderful examples of how you can praise God and give him all the glory while facing persecution.
This book really opened my eyes to how we can't ignore the needs and sufferings of fellow believers. It has also encouraged me to keep the persecuted church in my thoughts and prayers often.
I highly recommend this book to everyone 15 and older.

DeleteI'm with Laura, not sure I've heard of this one. But it sounds like you really enjoyed it, Ella. That's always a huge plus - especially when the book has a message such as you describe. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting Rissi!
DeleteI probably would never have heard of it if two of my friends hadn't recommended it.
The message is wonderful. It can be hard to read about the persecution facing the Chinese, but it's an encouragement at the same time.
